Does Carpet Buffing Really Work?

Carpet Buffing

“Some think it does nothing more than grind dirt into the carpet”

I do get asked from time to time about the carpet buffing process itself. Some think it does nothing more than grind dirt into the carpet. Everything that you think would grind debris and grime into the carpet is actually everything you need to pull it out. The weight of the buffer on the buffer pad effectively flattens the carpet fiber, now rotate that compressed carpet fiber and watch the magic. This movement basically rolls the carpet fiber around on all sides with an action that pulls dirt and debris up and out. It’s certainly easy to demonstrate when you see the amount of debris wicked up from this process after buffing an area. That’s why the vacuum is necessary afterwards, it’s the best way to remove this material from the area.
